  1. If you are a non-citizen, then you are generally required to obtain a “Sailing Permit” prior to leaving our country for good or for an extended period of time. In the processing of the permit, you will state – and make allowances for – any monies you owe our governmental agencies.
    Click on the first link to pull up an IRS page that addresses the Sailing Permit issue. You may also want to peruse IRS Publication 519, U.S. Tax Guide for Aliens for further details. Click on the second link to pull up an Adobe copy you can save or print as you need.

  2. I guess the would depend on the problems :) Sounds like something the court would have told you.
    Send a letter to the irs asking if they care. When they reply you will have some proof.
