What type of tax help do you need? I am a Tax Preparer for Jackson Hewitt in Montana. I don’t know alot about New Jersey, but am willing to help. I can help with Federal tax questions/concerns… You need to be more specific for a better answer….G in Montana
what problems? do you owe back taxes? if so how much? If it is less than 100,000 it can be worked in the local walk in office and you can speak to someone there. You will most likely get clear straightforward information there.
I strongly advise against going to a large chain that advises you can settle for pennies on a dollar or wants to take weekly, monthly payments. Advise regarding balances of less than $5000 -$10000 should come directly from IRS because tax firms will charge you more than it is worth to work on your case.
Be very careful of what kind of contract you sign with any preparer. I strongly suggest going to a walk in office. If anyone is not professional you have a right to speak to their supervisor.
Contact the Taxpayer Advocate. Although they are part of the IRS, they will help you work about plan and locate additional resources if necessary to resolve your issue.

Make sure your initial request to them is in writing (e.g. faxed or e-mail) so you have a record of your good faith efforts.
